Bubba the Love Sponge Clem has denied recent accusations that he is a racist after an audio clip of him using the n-word surfaced on YouTube.
According to Clem, an ex-employee stole federally trademarked intellectual property- outtakes from studio recordings that he says were meant to be comical- and posted them to make him look like a racist.
The YouTube video shows nothing but a black screen as a vulgar version of a Vermont Teddy Bear advertisement (voiced by Clem) plays on. The advertisement says the bears are a “fun and original way” for men to express themselves to their loved ones on Valentines Day.
The “Jungle Fever Bear”, says the ad, is to be given when “your bitch” has sex with “n***ers”.
After emphasizing the originality of the teddy bears as a gift- calling them a “…creative and personal alternative to flowers…”- Clem’s voice goes on to mention a woman and a “black n***ers” engaging in rough sex.
Tampa News reached out to Clem Thursday night and he provided the following statement:
“I’m totally disgusted. This is complete bullshit. I have an ex-employee who is trying to cover his own ass from illegal things he’s done. He’s stolen my federally trademarked intellectual property from years of outtakes where me and my African American friends were cutting up and having fun in the studio in private.
I am the furthest thing from a racist. Everyone knows that. I make fun of everyone, and 9 times out of 10, I’m the brunt of the joke.”
