Long time friend of the Howard Stern show and 89th Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel told the Oscars audience he was awaiting President Donald Trump’s tweets in response to his opening monologue — where he implied President Donald Trump is racist and that the foreign viewers watching the awards show “now hate us.”
“We don’t discriminate against people based on what countries they come from. We discriminate against them based on their age and weight.”
While introducing Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Kimmel said she is “a rare president, a president who believes in both arts and sciences.”
“We have no tolerance for fake news. Fake tans we love, but fake news?” Kimmel spoke too soon not being able to foresee that the award for Best Picture would be mistakenly presented the to the wrong movie – making it the biggest fake news event in Oscars history.
“I’m not the man to unite this country,” Kimmel said, adding there were millions and millions of people watching the award show at the moment. He urged everyone watching to “have a positive considerate conversation not as liberals or conservatives but as Americans – if we all did that it would make America great again. It starts with us.”
