Parent Advocacy Group protests NBC hiring Howard Stern reports that a parent’s advocacy group is protesting the possible hiring of shock jock Howard Stern as a replacement for Piers Morgan on the talent competition AMERICA’S GOT TALENT. Currently, Stern has neither confirmed nor denyed rumors that he will be joining the series but has in the past spoken on air about his belief that he would make a successful judge on the show’s panel.

The Parents Television Council (PTC) President Tim Winter is urging both the NBC network and producers of the show to hold off from hiring Stern. “If the rumors are true that NBC is considering the addition of radio shock jock Howard Stern to the America’s Got Talent judges’ table, the result will be the alienation of tens of millions of advertising dollars.” said Winter. “Such a move smacks of desperation by the once-proud peacock network. Any short-term buzz from Stern’s shock value will result in a longer-term decline as families abandon the show for more suitable programming.”
