We’ve grown up with America’s favorite cuisine – fast food. From beloved childhood memories to classic Americana, the art of quick and delicious meals represents some of life’s greatest pleasures and often marks precious moments.

TLC invites fans to dive into the pop culture world of fast food and dig deep into its cuisine – Fast Food Mania features its fanatics and explores all the one-of-a-kind wonders it has to offer. The show is hosted by Jon Hein from “The Howard Stern Show” and “The Fast Food Show” on Sirius/XM. Fast Food Mania is moving from ‘Destination America’ network to TLC with a ten-part series which will run every Thursday at 10pm beginning November 22 on TLC. Encores every Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 12/9pm.

Discovery Networks couldn’t make Planet Green sprout, so the former tree-hugging network is being transformed into the unabashedly patriotic Destination America, the company will announce Wednesday.

The new channel, launching in 59 million homes on Memorial Day, aims for a manly version of TLC’s audience, says CEO David Zaslav, with shows about food, travel, adventure and natural history aimed squarely at a between-the-coasts crowd.

“We became convinced there was an opening there to build a channel based on middle America, strong values, behavior and customs,” Zaslav says.

Original series include Fast Food Mania, hosted by Jon Hein, due June 3. “We’re going all over the country to the best fast-food places to see what makes them work,” says Hein, who hosts a similar show on Howard Stern’s satellite-radio channel. “Chances are, if you’ve been on the road and seen the sign, we’ve been there.”

Jon Hein on TV

Howard Stern Show Wrap-Up guru and Jump the Shark creator Jon Hein and his Diabetes are coming to a television near you.

It was announced this week that Hein has been cast as the host of a new reality show called ‘Fast Food Mania’. FFM will premiere on Discovery’s new ‘Destination America’ network on June 3rd. ‘Destination America’ will replace the environmentally conscious and low-rated ‘Planet Green’ network. Fast Food Mania’ will feature the “best fast food places to see what makes them work”. Sorry cows.

Hein has co-hosted ‘The Fast Food Show’ on Howard Stern’s secondary Sirius XM channel Howard 101 with HSS associate producer Jason Kaplan since 2010. Kaplan threw a deep fried hissy fit over the news of Hein’s T gig during Monday morning’s radio broadcast, accusing Hein of keeping the audition a secret to cut him out of the competition. Hein states that he landed the job through an open audition that was advertised on CraigsList.

Kaplan has also complained that Hein’s fast food critiques lack credibility because he doesn’t use a lot of toppings on his grease-soaked fast food.
