Stern, the self-proclaimed King of All Media, is the highlight honoree of the Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2012. Turns out Stern will not be attending the ceremony as he stated Monday morning on his SiriusXM show.
The Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held November 10.
Stern has been nominated four previous times, but he never campaigned by asking his legion of fans to vote for him. This time, he has been selected outright by the steering committee of the Chicago-based Hall.
TimeOut Chicago’s Robert Feder has the quote about Stern from Museum of Broadcast Communications chairman Bruce DuMont: “There wasn’t any great controversy involving Howard’s induction, because I think everyone has believed for a long time that he deserved” the honor. It also comes as Stern’s attained wider cultural relevance as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.”
