Howard Stern is Leaving America’s Got Talent

americas judgeIt looks like Howard Stern is leaving “America’s Got Talent” — or, at least he says he is.

The judge of the NBC competition show revealed the news on his radio show Wednesday morning that he would leave after the end of the current season, which wraps up this summer.

“I told them, this is my last season,” Stern said on his SiriusXM show. “I am going though my own career evaluation right now. I’m just too f–ing busy.”

Stern has been on “America’s Got Talent” for four seasons. The radio host, however, previously admitted that he “really did struggle” in the decision to sign on for the current season.

Don’t worry, though — Stern always has a replacement in mind, one with extensive experience in judging talent competition shows. He threw the name of Simon Cowell, who served as a judge on “Britain’s Got Talent,” into the ring.

Howard Stern not impressed by Mel B

americas judgeHoward Stern reveled this week that he was not impressed by the choice of Mel B as the new judge of America’s Got Talent.

Stern was on vacation when NBC announced that Mel B would replace Sharon Osbourne. While Mel B says she’s thrilled to be working with Howard Stern and Howie Mandel, Stern had a different reaction.

“At first I was kind of like, meh, what kind of choice is that? Mel B? Scary Spice? Wasn’t she on Dancing with the Stars Who cares about the Spice Girls?”

Howard also mentioned that he talked to Howie about the choice, who said he didn’t know Mel B at all and had no idea what it would be like to work with her.

Rosie Not Judging America’s Got Talent

Howard Stern said he wanted Rosie O’Donnell next to him on the AGT panel, but NBC said there are no current plans for that happening. According to Deadline, NBC is not in talks with O’Donnell and there are no plans for her to be a judge on season 8 of America’s Got Talent.

Rosie O'Donnell AGTThe Huffington Post initially reported Stern’s desires to have O’Donnell as the third judge last week. “Rosie and Howard have had a tough past but now they are great friends, he thinks she is a great talent and will bring a new energy to that show.” a friend of Howard Stern’s told The Huffington Post.

However, Rosie recently stated that she was in talks with NBC and is excited about the opportunity, “I am very interested in doing America’s Got Talent with Howard Stern and I am talking to them,” O’Donnell told The New York Observer. “Let’s see how that works.”

America’s Judge is Back for Season 8!

“America’s Judge” Howard Stern has resigned on for Season 8 of America’s Got Talent. Explaining that the experience was terrific last year.

The radio star made his announcement on his uncensored SiriusXM show this morning. NBC also issued an announcement stating they were thrilled that Stern would be returning this summer.

Not one to hold back, Stern told his radio listeners:

“Believe me, if I was the only judge, I think the show would be terrific. I’m ready to judge, I’m going to be more straight forward and direct then I was the first season.”

“Howard Stern’s towering presence and opinions on last season’s show as a new judge made a dramatic impact and added a sharper edge to the fascinating developments on stage,” was the reaction from NBC president of alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy.

“We know that Howard believes in ‘America’s Got Talent” which remains America’s top-rated summer series and that dedication comes across in a genuine way to our viewers who share his passion about our amazing talent competition.”

Howard Stern: I’m not sure if I’m returning

Is Howard Stern jockeying for more money or is he really considering not returning to AGT?

I’m still working on the decision about America’s Got Talent,” said Stern yesterday on SiriusXM Radio Show. “You know, like the Magic 8 Ball, the answer is still fuzzy. I’m thinking about it, though, I’m thinking about it seriously.”

Stern went on to suggest that his brash personality played a large role in America’s Got Talent’s ratings wins this past summer.

“You’ve got to be original. You can’t sit and look at focus groups. You can’t read your comments on Twitter,” he explained.

The radio presenter concluded: “You’ve got to go ahead and do what’s true to your heart, and that’s what I tell people on America’s Got Talent. It’s really the basic truth: You just have to go ahead and do what you think is right.”

America’s Got Talent returns in the summer of 2013 to NBC.

Sharon Osbourne officially quits AGT

Sharon Osbourne has decided to bow out from her judging position on NBC’s America’s Got Talent after this season.

Osbourne made the announcement on last night’s program when trying to console a dance group by saying, “Don’t be sad, because it’s my last show, too. So we’re leaving together!”

Deadline Hollywood reports NBC is already in the process of finding a replacement. Howard Stern stayed quiet about the subject. He doesn’t have a contract beyond this season but the network is clear they’d like him to return.

From his radio program, to his cross town commute to “Americas Got Talent,” to a look behind the scenes at AGT, fans will follow Stern in an exclusive peak at his day before he takes his judges’ seat to announce the four acts from Tuesday’s show that will move on to the semi-finals.

Sharon Osbourne quitting AGT

America’s Got talent, but it no longer has Sharon Osbourne … ’cause the AGT judge says she’s QUITTING the TV show for good.

Osbourne — who has been with “America’s Got Talent” since Season 2 — cryptically announced her exit from the show via Twitter on Tuesday, saying “My darling @howardstern, money is not the reason I’m not returning to @nbcagt, it’s because …”

USA TODAY: Howard Stern is making his AGT co-stars “virtually invisible”

It’s not clear what NBC was expecting when it added Howard Stern to the panel on America’s Got Talent (tonight, 8 ET/PT) — or what viewers were hoping or fearing the wildly popular but equally controversial shock jock might bring to the mix. But what they all got was a decent judge of talent who is, at least on his first two live shows last week, taking his job incredibly seriously and doing it quite well.

That’s great. What’s not so great for the show is that he’s making his two co-stars, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel, seem even more insignificant and inarticulate than they otherwise might. He’s not just overshadowing them; he’s making them virtually invisible.

Mayor Cory Booker wants to hook up with Robin

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who’s single, is looking to get together with radio host Howard Stern’s sidekick Robin Quivers.

“I’m a big admirer of hers, and I’m hoping that she and I at one point can meet,” Booker told AfterBuzzTV at an “America’s Got Talent” event in New Jersey earlier this week. He explained that “there have been numerous attempts to connect Robin and I–connect us not necessarily romantically, but connect us to even get together.”

“I’m hoping that Robin will come to Newark and maybe one day have dinner with me, or lunch with me or breakfast with me,” Booker added. “So, if this is an opportunity for me to get a message to Robin–please make sure Robin understands I’m looking for her to come to Newark and hang out.”

It’s not clear if Quivers is interested, but her boss certainly thinks highly of Booker.

Stern, standing next to Booker on the red carpet, called him “a superhero.”

“If more people in government were like this man who actually risked his life, we’d be somewhere,” he said of the mayor.
