Artie Lange: “I’m about to go into drug treatment rehab”

Comedian Artie Lange seems ready for a change.

Now 51 years old, his health fading, Lange appears ready to commit to sobriety. And it begins with a treatment program.

“I’m about to go into drug treatment and commit to a full rehab, in-patient,” he said in a recent interview on the Steve Trevelise Show. “I don’t know. I’m a very humble guy at this point. And I think I’m ready to go and do what I gotta do. It’s been long enough.”

“I’m about to take a big step to help myself, to save my life. I’m sure you will hear about it. I feel like I’m not done. I have another run of laughing with you all. I want to thank you fans the way you thank me. You have saved my life. You are special to me. Wish me luck.”

Artie says his latest court appearance “went great”

Artie Lange appeared in court on March 23. Artie said his latest court appearance “went great.”

Artie was arrested for drug possession last year, 81 decks of heroin to be specific. He was supposed to be sentenced in February, but that date was pushed back when he was hospitalized for health related issues.

“Just out of court. It went great. It was a pre-sentence interview. I saw the judge who is very fair,” Lange tweeted after leaving Superior Court in Newark on Friday morning. “She said I looked better! The interview went well. So I’m praying for probation but I will respectfully do what they tell me to do!”

Artie is scheduled to be sentenced on May 18.

Artie Lange facing “anywhere from three to five years” in jail?!?

Last month Artie tweeted that he had checked into a hospital to get his blood sugar under control. A couple of months prior to his hospital stay, Artie was beaten by a pipe in a New Jersey jail. Today, Artie is back in rehab seeking treatment for drug addiction and possibly facing 5 years of prison time for drug possession charges.  He was arrested back in March 2017 for possession of cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia at his home in Hoboken, New Jersey.

But that wasn’t the only time he was arrested in 2017. In May 2017, Lange was arrested after he was allegedly seen driving his Range Rover erratically near a McDonald’s on the Garden State Parkway. Police said they found him with a large bag of heroin on his lap. Lange was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

When police arrested him for not showing up to court, Lange pleaded guilty to possession of 81 decks — each deck is about 1 to 15 grams — of heroin.

“I went in the hospital to get my blood sugar under control,” he tweeted mid-February 2018. “I’m out to go to work. I missed too many days & I insisted. My blood pressure is way up. So I have to go back in tonight til it’s down. I’m payin for an unhealthy life. When the medication is right I will be fine.”

Artie who is now 50, admitted that he had gotten scared after a doctor told him he was in danger of suffering a stroke.

“So don’t worry. But when a doctor says I’m in danger of a stroke unless I change everything I do I get insanely scared. I hate the hospital but they said if I don’t go back they’d refuse to treat me. I will do this guys. I ain’t ready to check out yet.”

Artie Lange‘s sentencing hearing has been pushed back because the comedian remains in rehab seeking treatment for drug addiction, Lange’s attorney told Page Six.

Artie is now scheduled to appear in court on March 23.

Possibilities for penalties Artie could face include a drug treatment program, probation or probation with a split sentence — a year in county jail, for instance. But in general, jail time for possession of heroin could mean anywhere from three to five years. – Brian McCauley said, a criminal defense attorney who worked as a prosecutor in Mercer County for 30 years.

The fact that Artie is completing a stay in rehab could help but 81 decks heroin is a lot for anyone to be arrested with.

Artie Lange Drug Possession Charges Reduced

Our last article was about Artie Lange being arrested for possession of cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia at his home in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Turns out Hoboken police have downgraded the two counts of drug possession charges to three counts of disorderly persons, according to TMZ.

Sources told the site that the downgrades were because Artie was not in his car when police retrieved drugs from the vehicle, making it difficult to prove that they were his, but that it’s unclear why he wasn’t charged with possession of the heroin they found on his person.

If Artie is convicted of the three counts of disorderly persons he would face up to six months maximum behind bars.

Artie Lange Says He Could Face A Year In County Jail For Drug Possession Charges

Former Howard Stern Show co-host Artie Lange was arrested for heroin and cocaine possession by the Hoboken Police Department on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

Lange was caught with the drugs by police in his home garage.

“Officers responded to the address on a report of someone attempting to enter a vehicle that was parked inside the garage,” the spokesperson said.

Officer Zeszotarski was able to observe what appeared to be suspected heroin and cocaine inside the vehicle. A male later identified as Artie Lange approached the officers and confirmed it was his vehicle. A search of his person also revealed several more bags of suspected heroin along with cocaine.

Artie responded to the arrest via twitter. “I wish I could tell u how my story ends. I hope it’s being old & smiling because of unique memories. But I’m such a flawed person guys. Tryin!”

While performing on stage at The Wellmont Theater on March 24th Artie mentioned that he could face a year in county jail. “Don’t do drugs, guys, honestly. Kids, look at me. I’m 24 years old.”

Artie Lange: “Howard Stern Hates My Guts”

Artie Lange was interviewed by Maxim magazine last week. He spoke about his relationship with Howard Stern after leaving the show.

What is your current relationship with Howard Stern like?

Artie Lange 2016After I left the show, I went into intensive care for four days. Then I went to a psych ward for three days, and then I got transferred to a rehab. About two weeks after it happened, I got a call at rehab from Howard, and it was very nice. I called him when I got out of rehab, and he called me back. That was in February of 2010. He told me to call back and let him know how I was doing. I took it to mean that maybe they wanted me back as a guest or just to give an update, and I thought I owed them that. I called them about a month later in March 2010. Then I called again and left a message and apologized and said, “This is the last time I’m calling, I won’t bug you any more. Never heard back.

A year and a half later, my book was coming out. I didn’t wanna call them, but I was being respectful of a company, Random House, paying me big cash to write a book. I said, “I’ll at least try.” Just to be a guest on the show and talk about the book, which every fan on Twitter was begging to happen. [Stern show producer]Gary [Dell’Abate] calls back a day later and he says, very coldly, “It’s just not going to happen.” And I regret that I gave him the chance to say that, because I didn’t even want to make the call. I said, “OK” and hung up.

Unbeknownst to me, the book company tries to buy ad time on the show, and this is when I really knew I was persona non grata. Ad sales never turns down anything. It could be dick cream. Random House was gonna pay top dollar, and they turned them down. That’s the first time I ever heard them doing that. Spincterine, where you put a mint in your ass to make it smell better? They took an ad for it. My book, which was No. 1 on the best seller list, they wouldn’t do it because Howard put the kibosh on it personally. I said, “The guy hates my guts.” I wrote him off the way he did me. I really wanted to have that long conversation in person where I said, “I’m sorry for becoming a heroin addict. We were doing great for 7 years. I apologize for that last year when I was a junkie.

The fact that someone I had that relationship with won’t see me in person for ten minutes, it’s astonishingly immature and crazy. It’s surreal to me. – Arite Lange
